Windows 10: 'Mail' does not let you choose a display name for each account

I have been trying to solve this issue, but to no avail. No matter what you do, even when you change the name directly in the Gmail Settings, - so that if you send an email from the Gmail website, the name you chose is correctly displayed - this does not affect the name displayed if you send the email from the Mail app.


I cannot believe the app has such a trivial issue and that, considering that there are months old questions on this problem which do not solve it, Microsoft has done nothing to overcome it.


Am I missing something and it is actually possible to choose a display name for each account in Mail?

While sending mail, does not show my name, instead shows my email address

I would suggest you to follow the steps to change the Account display in Mail app:

1. Open Mail app

2. Select “settings”.

3. Under settings select “Manage Account”.

4. Click on the Account name

5. Change the Account name

If still not working, try the steps below:

• In the Mail app, open Settings (the gear icon).
• Click 'Manage Accounts'
• Select the account you want to change the outgoing display name for
• Click 'options for syncing email, contacts, and calendar'
• in the account sync settings, there should be a 'Your name' text field that is used as the display name for outgoing emails.

Windows 10 Mail Choose an Account List

I added a Hotmail account to Windows 10 Mail. I then deleted this account through the accounts settings in Mail. The account was removed, but it now shows up as an account in the Choose an Account list when adding a new Mail account. The account can
now be added with one click from the Choose an Account list without entering a password. This is not good. I do not want this account showing up on the Choose an Account list in Mail, especially now that it does not require a password to add the mail account.
How do I remove it from the Choose an Account list?
