  1. Moving an activated key from hdd to ssd

A friend and I built my pc, i used 2 old hdd total 1.5TB and a newer ssd 120gb on which i want to install my windows 10, which is currently on 1 of the hdd. My hard drives have other things on them and so it's not as easy as just moving the files from the hdd to the ssd, aswell as that the windows 10 on the hard drive has been activated with a key i got from my friend. Is there a way to re-use the key if so how?

    :)

Switch HDD to SSD + Add m2 2280 SSD then Activation? Or Activate then swap all the HDD/SSDs around?

    Good Afternoon,

Just purchased a brand new desktop PC (it still in the box). Its preinstalled with Windows 10 Professional (awaiting activation) on the a single drive which is a 2.5" HDD. I don't' want that drive in the computer and I've purchased two new SSD's to upgrade
the system. Once I remove the HDD, its no longer part of my equation.

Current out of the box setup:

2.5" HDD with Windows 10 Pro awaiting first startup / initiation and activation.

    Where I want to go:

M.2 2280 SSD as Primary drive with Windows 10 Pro installed and activated here

2.5" SSD as secondary drive for my files/documents/data.

How do I get the preinstalled Win10Pro off the HDD, and activate it on the M2 SSD as the primary OS boot drive? Should I activate windows before making all these hardware changes? Or should I clone/reinstall Windows 10 Pro to the M.2 SSD then activate?
Last step is adding the additional SSD for data, but that's not a priority … or is it? Add it before activation?

This is the headache I get for buying an pre-built system that wasn't originally spec'd the way I wanted. Oh well.

Do the HDD/SSD changes make a diff to the activation process? or is it all hardware encoded to the motherboard which remains unchanged?

    Advice?

  3. Lost Product Key after moving OS from HDD to SSD

    Hello TheGman2332,

My Name is Paul one of the Community Expert and a Windows User Like you. I am sorry that you are having issues with your WINDOWS 10 License Key. If you already installed Windows 10 to the new SSD then lets try and attempt to activate if your inside Windows.

    Steps:

    * Press the Windows Key and go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.

    * Find and press Troubleshoot. (Note: Not the Troubleshoot option listed in the sidebar.)

    * In the new window, select Activate Windows and then Activate, or choose "I changed hardware on this device recently" if you've changed out components on your PC.

    * Follow any sign-in prompts using the account details for the Microsoft account linked to your digital license (you may also need the local account password is you created one for your PC).

    * Find the computer you're using in the list of devices, then check the box next to "This is the device I'm using right now" and press Activate.

Please let me know if the above steps did worked or not so we can try another solution.

    Regards,

  4. Moving an activated key from hdd to ssd

Appdata Roaming move from SSD to HDD

Hi, recently bought a laptop with an ssd and a hdd. What i noticed was that every time i downloaded something, even though it was located in HDD, the SSD still took up space. I already moved the download, documents, etc. to the HDD.

Then i noticed that whatever i download gets into the appdata/roaming folder as well, so is it ok to move the Roaming folder from SSD to HDD?
