  1. Password not accepted in CMD recovery menu

    Hello,

Everything is fine on my pc and i came across an "issue" today as i was helping a friend remotely.

The issue is that i rebooted my windows 10 laptop and went to CMD by clicking SHIFT+restart -->Advanced Options---CMD. Once there it showed my name as i have it on my Microsoft account and on my pc and also the email and asked me for a password which i provided and i am 100000000% sure that its correct and typed it in correctly. But it says password incorrect!

Does anyone know why this is happening? The password as i said is current and correct and im logging in and out of windows with no issues! I was just going step by step as i was instructing my friend and came across it!

I would really like to know how to resolve this because it annoys me to know that something is NOT working correctly on my machine!

    Thank you for your time!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 will not accept my password

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

Try signing in to account.live.com on another device, to verify the account is in a good state. Try signing in using a mouse with the On-screen Keyboard to be sure you are not hitting a keyboard layout issue. Check on the sign-in screen to see if any other
accounts are available for sign-in on the PC.

    • If one of the other accounts is an administrator, then you can use it to create a replacement account and migrate data from the previous user profile.
Try Shift+Restart to get to the Go Back option in the recovery boot menu.

    • You may need to use Shift+Restart a couple of times. Be sure the customer is holding the SHIFT key until they see Please Wait.
    • Once at the recovery boot menu, click Troubleshoot, Advanced. You may need to click to see more recovery options at the bottom.
    • Click Go back to previous build.
    • If you can get to the option and are prompted for a password, you may be able to satisfy it with the MSA password.
    • If you changed the password recently, try the older MSA password.
    • Ask the customer to try signing in to account.live.com on another device, to verify the account is in a good state.
    • Try signing in using a mouse with the On-screen Keyboard to be sure we’re not hitting a keyboard layout issue.
