Windows 10: Issues typing into File Explorer search and browsers Win 10 1909 18363.753

Hello,


I have a small enterprise of about 150 machines consisting of various hardware, all on Win 10 1909 Build 18363.753. Currently about 25 percent of my users all are assigned to individual machines are reporting problems typing into Windows File Explorer search bar and certain Web browsers, including Edge, IE 11, Chrome and Firefox. This has not occurred prior to the current build.


General Internet search revealed a temporary solution which consists of running CTFMON.exe. This works for a while, but then users report the problem returns. Sometimes when the problem returns for a second time, the only thing that will fix it is a reboot. I've also tried running powershell commands that -- among other things -- reinstalls cortona;, sfc /scannow; DISM repairs, etc. with no solution.


I wonder if this is truly a bug in the latest versions of Windows 10 Pro?


Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

1909 Update file explorer search issue.

 

1909 Update file explorer search issue.

New 1909 update broke the file explorer search. Now after file explorer window has been open 10+ minutes the search option is grayed out. Text does not show in the bar and the only way to be able to type again is to task kill file explorer from taskmgr.
I have tried to run the search and index troubleshooter but it says everything is working as intended. I have restarted the windows search service, and I have reset the windows search but this issue happens every day. Any suggestions?

I changed windows services to automatic no delay start. and on recovery tab restart after 5 minutes and no issues on any of my computers

for 5 hours so far. Before that it would suspend search after 5 minutes or so and i would have to restart explorer big pain as it closes all open windows.
