Windows Installer running each time a program is opened

I've seen a number of google and community posts on fixing the installer from running each time a program is opened. Rather than running a reg edit or doing a repair from the command prompt, first try to fix it with the preinstalled Microsoft features.

1 Go to Apps and Features or Add/Remove Programs

2 Type in the program that's causing issues

    3 Click Modify

    4 Click Yes

5 Select Add or Remove Program Features and then click Continue Repair should work too

6 Right click Microsoft Office top of the list, Select Run all from my computer

7 Follow the rest of the prompts.

This will reinstall all features of the program on your machine so that each time you use it the installer isn't installing features that are missing.

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Windows Installer running each time a program is opened :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  4. Windows Installer running each time a program is opened

    Windows 10 installing progs

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to windows 10 from 7. I used the Media Creation Tool from MS website. It took awhile, but I am finally running Windows 10 (12-14).

I opened the new App & Program feature to remove programs that I no longer needed. Scrolling down the list, I was horrified! Apps that I didn't install somehow magically installed themselves. Two programs stood out: Facebook and Candy Crush Soda Saga. Both programs have those tale-tale icons that they came from Windows Store (which I've never even opened). The install date for both of them were on 12-26.

Is this a common thing for Windows 10? Or is it because I did an upgrade and not a clean install?
