Windows 10: Java 64 bit not working on Windows 10 32 bit works well

Hi,


I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Operating system, running on a PC with I5-4690K CPU @ 3.5GHz, with 16Gb RAM.

I haven't had any problems so far, because I had installed on 32-bit Java system, which was always up to date.


My problem came after I installed STM32CubeIDE, which is a platform that needs 64-bit Java. The platform installed also its own 64-bit Java that I didn't know it was using and initially ran smoothly few weeks, until I upgraded to a new version of it.

After the upgrade, the platform starts ok, but I found that when is calling the configurator which is a java application, which does "New STM32 project", the respective window appears, stays for a few seconds and then closes, together with the platform, without reporting anything...


After more extensive documentation, I saw that 64 bit java is needed for this platform. So, I tried to install Java 64bit, the first time over existing 32 bit, it was installed, but when running "Java Control Panel" I saw that it reports that it is 32 bit. Then I removed from the system both versions with the utility from Oracle, I reinstalled only 64-bit Java and saw that "Java Control Panel" starts its window, stays a second and then closes. That is, it behaves exactly like the configurator from the STM32CubeIDE platform. So does "About Java" and other applications running Java...


Then, I removed the 64 bit java again and I replaced with Java 32 bit and the "Java Control Panel" it works again ok. But the STM32CubeIDE platform failed to work, even the first version installed which was working first days...


I have no problem with the local image of Windows 10, I checked with DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / CheckHealth



Any idea about what happened and why 64 bit java don't work in my Windows 10?

Why does 32 bit Windows 10 work but not 64 bit?

My laptop used to work in 64 bit Version of Windows 10 and even 8.1. Now only 32 bit works. The 64 bit windows 10 install gets stuck at spinning dots. I have the requirements. 4GB Ram 1TB HDD and UEFI. 1.9ghz processor.

It used to work after the free upgrade a year ago, but now only 32 bit works. Also, my touchpad doesn't even show up on the devices list.
