  1. How to stop an account from reverting to an "Insider" account? PLEASE HELP!!!

Close to back when W10 was first released to be run for "free" by the Windows Insider program, i joined. I went through a couple? several? years of running the system on actually a system warned to not host it - my business use computer - providing real-use daily information on problems encountered.

Only lately have i become "disenchanted" with the quality of the updates, so i bought a new Windows Pro key from a retail seller i found via an internet search.

I installed the key via SettingsSystemAboutChange product key or upgrade your edition of Windows, and activated, and turned OFF updates.

For several days all finally seemed fine, then today i was notified of an "upgrade" awaiting to be installed. I took a look at my settings and to my horror, i was a part of the "Insider" program again. Windows Update shows a Restart Required, and is telling me "Your insider preview build settings need attention. ..."

I want to KILL the 2020-01 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version Next for x64 KB4534170 and never again suffer an upgrade unless i specifically so select. The reason behind this is that a couple weeks ago i twice ran the "Refresh" recovery routine or whatever it is called to try to remedy my computer being functionally trashed after one of MS's "updates", spent two full days reloading and re-configuring everything, only to end up in the same functionally trashed situation after it ran it's "updates". After the last time i immediately changed the key, stopped the updates, and enjoyed a week or so of my computer running better than it has in months.

I suspect the central issue, other than the comparatively poor administration and "alpha" testing of upgrades by MS these days, is like usual, the log in is tied to my MS account; i am guessing that something in the account is telling this computer that it is going to be part of the "Insider" program, even though i entered a new key.

Can anyone with solid technical knowledge advise on two points:

    1. How do i kill the downloaded "update" from installing?
    2. How do i make my account know i do NOT want to be an "Insider" any more?

Thank-you very much for your consideration and knowledge!

    Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

  3. email account hacked. please help

Also may I suggest you change email accounts to one of the following.....

    Gmail
    Outlook

The reason is they both use "Step two verification". This style of verification means even if a hacker gets your password they cannot log in to your account. You see every time someone try's to log in that hasn't been verified you will get a text or a phone call giving you a final code to log in. Its very easy and simple to setup also. The great thing is once you setup your Email application with a specific "application password" from that account you never have to log in again AND your account is protected from being logged in from foreign entities.

I like the new outlook personally however Gmail is also damn good. Gmail also has an IP tracker that allows you to see WHERE the account has been logged in from. Anyway let us know if you wanna change over and have any questions. We will be happy to help and welcome to TPU!

How to stop an account from reverting to an "Insider" account? PLEASE HELP!!!

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown How to stop an account from reverting to an "Insider" account? PLEASE HELP!!! :(
