    Hello,


    I have a new HP Envy x360 15-dr1003ca.


    I would like to use this for audio recording but cannot get the DPC latency low enough. It is regularly 6-7ms.

    I have read about this issue on many forums now.

    The closest I have come to a solution is to re-install W10 from the MS website so that it does not have any drivers etc for this specific model's devices.

    This gets the DPC down to ~500us, which is good.


    My problem is that when I connect to ethernet, Windows automatically downloads all my device's drivers and the DPC jumps back up to 8ms.

    I need to connect to the internet to install audio s/w.


    How can I stop the drivers from installing?


    I have tried:

    1. Disabling driver updates via "Device Installation Settings" as shown here Option 1:

    2. Disabling through the registry, Option 3 in the above link

    In both cases, the drivers, as well as NVidia command center among other things, all install on their own accord.


    Am I doing something wrong?

    Should these settings stop all installations as I am expecting?

    Automatic GPU drivers installed

    Hey guys for the past 6 months I've been running a gtx 580 and I've just sent it back today as part of the step up program to get the gtx 680. For the next 2 weeks I will be using my old 9800 gtx+. I installed the card and booted the computer and upon getting to the windows screen, windows searched automatically online and installed drivers. I rebooted and checked the driver version, and sure enough, it had found and installed the latest drivers for my card.

    I've always manually installed drivers by starting up the nvidia process and all that, what windows did, was it a sufficient driver install? When I get the gtx 680, I'm assuming it will do this again, would it be a smart idea to manually install the driver or would windows version do the exact same thing? Thanks guys.
