Windows 10: Running Windows Security Anti-virus Scan extremely lags computer and slows it down.

Whenever I try to run a Windows Security Scan, it extremely slows my computer down and causes it to freeze for short amounts of time. I know that running a scan will slow down my computer, but this makes a lot of tasks impossible. Whenever I open the task manager to see what is causing this it shows "Antimalware Service Executable" is using almost all of the CPU power. The total amount of CPU power being used on my computer is shown to be around 100% and almost always above 95%. I haven't had this problem forever and it seems it started a couple of months back. When I did notice that running the scan causes lots of lag and slows my computer down it wasn't as bad as it is now. Is there a way to fix this? Also, is it possible that a virus could be causing this issue? I would really appreciate help on this, as I am quite paranoid about computer viruses and something going wrong with my computer.

IE11 runs extremely slow. Is it a virus?

IE 11 runs extremely slow. I suspect there is a virus imbedded in the program. Edge runs fine. How can I reload IE 11 or how can I remove the virus from IE 11. I have MalwareBytes as an anti-virus.

How to scan anti-virus with windows Defender?

For windows 10, I would like to know on how to scan anti-virus with windows Defender, when I select a file and right click, there is no anti-virus for scanning for windows defender and how to make windows defender update automatically?

Does anyone have any suggestions?
