  1. Windows won't restart after installing updates, problem has been going on since February

I have been having problems since February with the following set of updates. On my settings it keeps stating the following:

Your device is missing important security and quality fixes.

    2020-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4551762)

    Status: Pending restart

2020-02 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4537759)

    Status: Pending restart

    2020-02 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64 (KB4534132)

    Status: Pending restart

However, each time I have tried restarting the computer in the usual way to install the updates, which I have tried multiple times, it does not get back to the login screen, but seems to get stuck somewhere along the line, and at one point a message comes on screen about the computer attempting to repair. Then the screen eventually goes blank. The only way to get the computer to come on again is to press the power button off and start again; after I shut down and begin again in this way, it does take me back to the login screen, but says the updates were not installed,

Today I tried the option of manually installing them from the Microsoft Update Catalog. However, when I tried to do this, I got a message saying each of the updates is already installed. And yet whenever I try to restart the computer, it still refuses to complete the process, even though the manual process is now stating they are installed. I don't know what to try next. Can anyone offer any advice? I would be really grateful for any help.

    Windows updates won't install!

I had the same problem when i repaired my O/S, i forgot the steps on how to fixed it, but it is in the microsoft support forum.

You have to reinstall the windows updater, then restart the updating service.

    edit: Found it...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

  3. Windows updates won't install!

    I'll check that out.

I had read that. However the problem MS is addressing there is when the update client files of the pc don't recognise that the pc is not updated and hence don't download the updates. My updates download fine. In fact I'm even getting downloaded updates which I do not need (win2000, vista, server...) The problem is getting the correct updates installed...

For example, I'm getting KB933729 in my list. That's for Vista!

    Windows updates won't install!

Thank you very much! This did the trick:

Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
    b. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    net stop wuauserv

    2. Register the Wups2.dll file. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    regsvr32 %windir%\system32\wups2.dll
    b. Click OK on each verification message that you receive.

    3. Type the following command at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:
    net start wuauserv
    4. Exit the command prompt. To do this type exit, and then press ENTER.

If possible I'd give you many more thanks not just one! I love you! *Big Grin Windows won't restart after installing updates, problem has been going on since February :D
