  1. Change administrator and log in of Windows 10 computer

I realise that similar questions have been asked before but I have been a little uncertain of following advice in other threads.
We have a single Windows10 computer that belongs to our not-for-profit organisation. It is used principally by the treasurer and contains some software that we use regularly but will be impossible to reinstall.
At present the sole log in to the computer is by way of the previous treasurer's Microsoft account using a pin.
He has since understandably changed his password but the pin log in still works.

It would be better if the log in was changed to the Microsoft account of the new treasurer and the account of the old treasurer deleted.I therefore have three questions:

    1. If we create a new Microsoft account for the new treasurer and create a new administrator user associated with that account, will that new user have access to all software and data presently on the computer?;
    2. What steps do we take to create the new administration user with a new Microsoft account?; and
    3. What steps do we take to remove the old administration user from the account without losing access to existing software or data?

I hope this is set out sufficiently clearly.

  2. Change my administration log in for windows 10

    Hi,

Your Microsoft account gives you access to the applications and games from Microsoft Store, and lets you see your settings and other stuff across multiple Windows 10 devices.
We recommend using a Microsoft account to sign into a Windows 10 device.
You can easily change the Microsoft account you are using as your Windows 10 sign in information by following these steps:

    • Add the Microsoft account that you want to as your Windows 10 sign in credentials. Follow the steps in this
      link.
    • Change the account type of the newly added Microsoft account. The account type should be Administrator. The steps provided in the later part of this
link provides information on how to make a newly created account as an Administrator.
    • Sign out on the current user account you are using and then sign into the computer using your new Microsoft account.

Let us know if further assistance is needed.

  3. changing administrator

    Hi,

Share this information to assist you better.

    • What are the steps you have tried to change the Admin rights?
    • How many accounts have you configured in your computer?
Try the below steps if you have not tried:

    • Open Control Panel (Move the cursor to the lower/left corner of the screen and
Right Click, select Control Panel on the menu.
    • In Control Panel, select User Accounts.
    • Select Manage another account.

This will show all of the user accounts on the computer. If there is an Administrator account it will show that designation.

    • Sign Out and log on with any Administrator Account.
    • Go back to Control Panel/User Accounts.
    • Select Manage another account and then select the Standard account you wish to change.
    • Select the Change Account Type option.
    • Select the Administrator option to change the account and click the
      Change Account Type button.
If there are no other Administrator Accounts, let us know and we can try another recovery method.
