Windows 10: Windows update downloading wrong drivers after graphic card upgrade

Hi,


I recently changed my graphic card from an NVIDIA DTX 560-ti to a AMD Radeon RX 580. Before doing so, I uninstalled all the NVIDIA drivers and software, made the graphic card switch, and installed my new Radeon card. Now, not long after, my computer crashed with a blue screen saying it had problem with , what I found out online, usually was related to corrupt or wrong graphic card drivers.


I just found out that Windows Update still tries to reinstall my old NVIDIA drivers even though this card isn't installed anymore. I can't find how to prevent Windows from installing these drivers while keeping my computer up to date.


Any ideas?

The error might occur if the Graphic card is cannot update the driver automatically.

I suggest you to update the graphic card manually by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device manager.
• Expand Display Driver from the list.
• Right click on the Graphic driver and select
  update driver software.

Also, can download the latest version of the graphic card from the manufacturer website.

Nvidia Graphics Card and Program Files, Nothing working after Upgrade to Windows 10

Yes, even if Microsoft Edge doesn't support plugins you can use Internet Explorer to do so.

However, I would suggest you to follow the steps below and then try to update graphics card.

Method 1: Update Graphics Card

Follow the steps below.

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand the Display Adapter.
• Right-click on the Graphics card and select
  Update Driver Software.
• Restart your system

Method 2: Uninstall and then re-install Graphics Card

Follow the steps below.

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand the Display Adapter.
• Right-click on the Graphics card and select
  Uninstall.
• Once, you have uninstalled the driver do not restart, go to the Manufacturer's website and download the latest Graphics Card Driver.
• Double-click (run) and install the driver setup file.
• Restart your system

Uninstall and Reinstall the Graphics Card Drivers.

Step 1: Uninstall the Graphics Card
Drivers

• 
  Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.
  
• 
  Click on “Device Manager” from that list.
  
• 
  Search for the Graphics Card
  from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers
  from the computer.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.
  

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.



Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website:



Step 2: Go to the Computer or Graphics Card
manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the
Graphics Card model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.
