Windows 10: Windows 10 slows to boot, slow to load desktop icons and icons in the taskbar, etc..

Hi

I'll try and explain it as good as I can

Recently Windows 7's support has ended, I still use Windows 7 and then just upgrade it to Windows 10

At first the PC has no problems at all but a few days later, well


The boot time is so slow, when the desktop appears theres no desktop icons, click anywhere just cause explorer to crash

Waiting like 6 minutes and it finally appears, if it appears and I click refresh, explorer crash

The taskbar has no icons other than the time, network and the little notification thingy and the start button, the start button also took really slow and sometimes also crash explorer, if I click the taskbar it also crashes


I tried run the command "sfc /scannow" it said it found something and fixed it, but it doesnt seem to do anything with this

I have gone as far as install other version of windows 10 called "Aero 10" cuz I have the .iso file lying around and Im lazy to download cuz of my stupid internet, the aero 10 seems to work perfectly no slow no nothing, i dont wanna use it since i cant use windows store for some reason, and its kinda outdated


Also, every other applications work fine but the explorer

I click to open file explorer it doesnt open up.

Windows 10 desktop icons not in order

In ccleaner, did you uncheck cleaning the icon cache... have not used in a while; however, I think that is what the option is called.

Now, if you are setting the icons and they move after you have set the settings and not changed them... you may have the "Random Windows 10 Icon movement problem".
Some people have this and some don't.

Slow boot time on SSD and slow Desktop icons loading


howdy, gil could you tell us how you sorted your desktop load out as mine is very slow also, boot is only 7 seconds but desktop programs/icons painfully slow

 

Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
