I Got Windows 10 For Free When You Could, Now it's Deactivated Itself

I've got this new problem that is driving me mad. On my main gaming PC my Windows 10 just deactivated for some reason. None of the tricks I've read online have helped me. I can't even get rid of the watermark because the “PaintDesktopVersion” in the registry is already set to 0.

I think it started happening after I did a Windows update. I've since uninstalled the latest updates but that was no help, still deactivated.

My media PC in my bedroom that I also upgraded to Windows 10 for free at the same time as my gaming PC, is not experiencing this problem.

I've tried running malwarebytes, sfc /scannow and chkdsk all to no avail. Tried running the troubleshooter in settings-activation and it just tells me my key is invalid.

I'm really at my wits end with this and I really don't want to have to reinstall windows again (if that would even fix it).

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be forever in your debt.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
