Windows 10: Windows update KB4551762 causes big issues

Hi,


My computer has Windows updates enabled and thus he always tries to install back update KB4551762.


The update causes the following issues:

- no search bar in windows taskbar or any search bar in windows explorer is working, I cannot type

- screen freezes very often, around every 5 seconds



My system is an ASUS TUF series gaming laptop FX505 with the following specs:


- AMD Ryzen 5 3550H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.10 Ghz

- 8 GB RAM

- SSD Apacer AS350 512GB

- nVIDIA geforce 1050 3GB mobile graphics card

- Windows 10 Pro


Any idea why update is causing issues ? or how can I prevent it from installing?

You can rollback and uninstall your recent update follow these Steps:

1. Press Start button then click on the Gear icon which is the Settings

2. Press "Update and Security"

3. Press "View Update History"

4. Select "Uninstall Updates"

5. A pop up should appear then scroll down to the bottom then on the Microsoft Windows section, right click the recent or all of the "Update for Microsoft Windows KB4551762" then Click "uninstall".

6 wait for the process to be finished then restart the PC/Laptop there you should have the fix on your update problems.

You can temporarily disable updates for a month and half and you can repeat this again and again if it expires:

1. Press Start button then click on the Gear icon which is the Settings

2. Press "Update and Security"

3. Click "Pause updates for 7 days"

4. press "Advanced options" and scroll down and find "Pause Updates" then select the furthest date from the day you were trying to pause the updates.
