Why is the issue with local share security warnings still a problem? I shouldnot have to click OK in this box every time I touch a file in thesame shared directory. Why, ten years later, is there stillno simple, straightforward way to turn this notification off? without disabling security notifications in bulk Why is Windowsstill not competent enough to know the difference between a local file share and the Internet? Why is the Control Panel being deprecated while Settings does not yet surface all of the necessary configuration options?

Seriously Microsoft, get your networking together.

To quote the answer given a decade ago:

"This worked for me, but it's a bummer I have to manually enter IPs here.. it would be nice if Windows could detect this is a local network file copy and skip the irritating and pointless warning about 'dangerous' files."

    :)

Which SMB is on my Network

To do that in an admin Powershell session use Get-SmbConnection

Or you can use powershell Get-SmbConnection in a Command Prompt (Admin). Here is a mixed network, my BT router is on SMB 1.5, a W7 machine is using 2.1, while the W10 machines are all 3.1.1. NB: you have to be connected to a machine for it to appear in the list. A File Explorer window looking at the list of shares on a network PC is sufficient, so open File Explorer at Network then open each PC you see there in a new window.

    Network Shares blocked by firewall

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues with Network Sharing being blocked by the Firewall. I would suggest you to check and confirm if the SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing feature is enabled in the system that is facing this issue. You
    can follow the steps below.

Steps to enable SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support:

    1. Press the Windows and
R key together, this will open the Run dialogue box for you.
    2. Type appwiz.cpl and press enter, this will open the
Programs and Features window for you.
    3. Click on Turn Windows features on or off in the left pane.
    4. In the Windows Features window, scroll down and under
SMB 1.0 CIFS File Sharing Support, check the boxes next to
SMB 1.0/CIFS Client and SMB 1.0/ CIFS Server. If the boxes are already ticked, please uncheck the box and check it again.
    5. You will be prompted to restart your Computer, kindly restart the system and check if the issue still persists.

As the systems are in Domain, if the issue still persists, I would suggest you to post your query in
IT Pro ‘TechNet’ forums, where we have support professionals
who are well equipped with the knowledge on systems connected in Domain to assist you with your query.
