Windows 10: Windows 10 Pro Laptop on Wi Fi not detecting Windows 8.1 laptop connected by Ethernet to...

Hello;

I have a Windows 10 Pro laptop connected to my home network by Wi Fi. I also have another laptop on Windows 8.1 Pro. When I connect the 8.1 laptop by Ethernet to home network, the 10.0 laptop does not detect it. However when I connect the 8.1 laptop by Wi Fi then the 10.0 laptop detects it. I can not understand why this is happening. Please let m know.

laptop doesn't detect any wi-fi networks at all.

Does your laptop connect ok via ethernet?

I remain concerned about your having tried all manner of settings.

Try Tweaking.com's free cautious repair tool. Work through the steps in turn.
Select only repairs 13, 25,26

 

Different Network Connection From the same Wi-Fi

Thank you for providing the details.

As mentioned above in your post, the Desktop is connected to the Ethernet
and Laptop is Connected to the Wi-Fi. It is not possible to connect to the same Wi-Fi networks. If both Desktop and Laptop are on Wi-Fi devices then you could try connecting it to the same Wi-Fi network.

• Did you try the below step provided and what was the result?

I would suggest you to create a new HomeGroup and check if it helps.

Laptop cannot detect Wi-fi connections

Hi everyone,

I have been experiencing problems with connecting to the Wi-Fi. My laptop used to be able to connect to the Wi-Fi, then it just stopped. It just cannot detect any Wi-Fi connections. I have updated my Wi-Fi adapter to the latest version, but nothing happens,
I even tried re-installing older versions of the adapter, but still nothing happens. I have ran all kinds of troubleshoots but I keep getting the same result, " Problem with the wireless adapter or access point Not Fixed." All my other devices, my phone and
iPad detect and connect effortlessly to Wi-Fi connections. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, I had the problems before the upgrade, and they still persist even now.

Please help.
