  1. Storage Settings Displaying Inflated C Drive Space...

    Hi,

I recently performed a clean install on my computer, and promptly after finishing an offline from Internet connection that is setup of driver installations, the space for my C drive is horribly inflated.

To this day, roughly a month later without updates, my C drive partition still shows this problem. Its size is 48.00 GB, and I am using almost 40.00 GB on it, according to File Explorer and the system itself, through the virtual disk management service and other integral Windows system information components note volume label has been redacted:
Storage Settings Displaying Inflated C Drive Space... 647c78b1-6bfc-48b2-b70c-e3bbffe94b23?upload=true.png

But in "Storage" under the default Windows 10 Settings application, and likewise under "Devices" in my Microsoft account information webpage I have the following show-up:
Storage Settings Displaying Inflated C Drive Space... 556501ab-da5b-4172-9c55-ce600540fcdf?upload=true.png

Note that space free in this Settings window matches all other indicators File Explorer, Disk management, etc.

This has never happened to me on any Windows system, and much less on this same computer hardware setup; it is not the first time I have cleanly installed Windows 10 on the machine. I made no meaningful hardware changes or driver updates relative to times prior. Any assistance in associating the cause of this problem will be greatly appreciated; I don't know if it's linked to the fact that it's the first time I use such a small <100 GB C drive size, or anything else.

    :)

    Unallocated Space to C Drive

    Hi Travis,

It appears that a disk partition was created but was never assigned its allocation. Assuming there are no files stored in the unallocated partition, perform these steps to combine it with your C: drive:

    • In Disk Management, right-click on (CStorage Settings Displaying Inflated C Drive Space... :) which appears next to the
      Unallocated partition.
    • Select Extend.

Let us know if you're able to combine the spaces after following the steps above.

    Regards.
