Windows 10: Users and Local group not working : library not registered

Hi !


I currently have the following problem on 2 machines from my park maybe more, no clue yet how many :


Users and Local Groups pannel shows an error about a Library not registered approx translation from french which shows "Bibliothèque non inscrite"



It stops me from running any successful user search on both the local computer and active directory.

as it shows, local groups show fine in the search. Active Directory comes up with absolutely nothing in the search.


Both affected machines are currently running Windows 10. They were upgraded from Windows 7 PRO.

They didn't run for the past 2 months, because of french containment.

Other machines in the same "place" as those 2 are unaffected.


What I've tried so far :

SFC / DISM combo

checking event monitor - nothing shows up when trying to open the User and Local Groups pannel

regsrv32 activeds.dll - seems like that one worked on a prev version of windows
pulling one machine from AD then getting it back in again when I had physical access last week


Caveats :

I do not currently have any physical access to those machines, as a continuation of the containment

Those machines do not have any ILO / iDrac / vPro remote management system

Windows clean install / reinitialization would defeat the purpose

Hello Frank, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If you have the Windows 10 Home edition, then it will not have Local Users and Groups (lusrmgr.msc) included in it. It's only available in the Pro and Enterprise editions instead.

If you like, you could use step 3 in OPTION THREE of the tutorial below list users in a group.

Show Local users and Groups

Hey Brink, I was just looking at groups in netplwiz today and I noticed that my user account is just in the Admin group now, it used to be in Users and Admin. I have home, so I can't change it. I don't know how it changed. I guess there's nothing I can do about it. Will it be a problem?
I'm tempted to downgrade to my 8.1 pro and go to 10 pro.

Hello,
I want to get a list of Local Users and Groups as shown in the first screen shot (taken from the Web).
When I run Computer Management as administrator that information is not available under
Computer Management > System Tools (second screen shot - my computer)
How can I get this information?
