  1. Windows 10 S

I am considering purchasing a HP 14" i3-1005G1 with Windows OS. All I do on a computer is writing, data processing and some social media- no gaming. I have lots of photos I want to organize, but do not want to use a photoshop type program.

I want Excel and Word on the laptop. I have the Office Professional Plus 2010 program disc.

It is my understanding that only apps from Microsoft Store can be downloaded to the Windows 10 S that is on this laptop. The store does not clearly state how much it costs and how it compares to Office Pro.

I understand that I can opt out of "S" and have regular Windows 10, but cannot go back to "S". Is "S" really important? I did not see a variety of apps at the store. I will want to add my banking app, library app, etc. Can I add apps such as these?

I can't tell if the laptop I'm looking at can even accommodate the disc I have to load on a laptop.

Frustration! I've only used a desktop computer with Windows 7 and a tablet.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Unlocked Realtek HD Audio Drivers Windows 7 & 8 (With Dolby Digital Live and DTS Interactive)

DTS supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 and it should work on windows 10 too just DDL require to unlock your driver .
