I'm not sure how long this bug has been there, however renaming folders from Windows File Explorer search messes up the folder names.

The folder ends up with two folder names:

    1) The new folder name, which appears in the Windows File Explorer UI

    2) The old folder name, which remains as the real folder name and appears in the folder properties, PowerShell, etc..

    Steps to reproduce:

    1) Create a desktop folder called "Test" and double-click it to open it.

    2) Create a new folder in that folder and name it "2020-05-26 Test".

    3) Using the Windows File Explorer search box, search for "Test".

    4) The folder named "2020-05 Test" will appear in the search results. Rename the folder to "Blah".

    5) Click the Windows File Explorer "back" arrow to exit search and go back to the main folder.

    6) Double-click the "Blah" folder.

    7) Looking at the Windows File Explorer UI, it looks like the folder has been successfully renamed to "Blah". However, if you single-click in the address bar, it shows the old folder name in the path.

After renaming a folder from Windows File Explorer search, it's not possible to correctly rename the folder anymore; the old name is now permanent. And as soon as you copy or move the folder somewhere else, it will revert back the old folder name. If you try renaming it again, the same happens again. The folder is now permanently bugged. I don't know where Windows File Explorer has added the new name in the file, but it isn't in the correct place.

  2. Desktopini created instead of a folder renaming

Every time I try to rename a folder on my PC (Windows 10 Pro), instead of renaming the file, it creates a desktop.ini folder, and inside of it is the following information

    [.ShellClassInfo]

    LocalizedResourceName=

After LocalizedResourceName= is the name of the folder that I renamed it to. So if it was Folder1 and I rename it to Folder2, that file will say:

    [.ShellClassInfo]

    LocalizedResourceName=Folder2

... but the actual foldername will still be Folder1

Searching the Internet lists a bunch of random suggestions, none of which work. Anyone know why this happens? I'm pretty close to abandoning File Explorer, as it seems to be the cause of this issue.
