  1. How to check if a driver you downloaded from the internet is a virus?

So I recently downloaded some drivers off the web to get my wii remote to connect to my computer. Right after I downloaded them I felt stupid because I probably should have looked to see if they were a virus.

So I was wondering if there is a way to virus scan your drivers.

Also my computer has been slow every since I restarted after I downloaded the drivers, that may because I am running windows defender to check my whole computer for viruses.

    :)

  2. Multiple Payload Virus - Slow internet after Windows 10 download

    Hi Dani,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

This issue might have occurred due to corrupt network drivers.
I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if that helps.

Method 1: Uninstall and Reinstall the Network Card Drivers.

    • Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    • Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    • Search for the Network Adapter from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”.

    • On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.

    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.
After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Step 2: Check the Windows updates for any latest driver updates.

Check in Windows updates if any driver updates are available. If so, install the same and check if it helps.

    • Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.

    • Type “Updates” in the search bar and click on the icon “Windows Update” from the search result.

    • On the “Windows Update” window, click on the link: “Check for updates” from the left hand side of the window to receive a fresh list of updates.

    • If the updates are available, then install all the updates listed there.
If the latest network adapter driver are not available then download and install it from the computer manufacturer’s website.

Step 3: Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website:

Go to the Computer or Network Card manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 8.1 drivers available for the Network Card model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website. You can use
the same Windows 8.1 Network card driver for Windows 10 tech preview.

You may also refer to the articles given below, try the suggestions given in them and check if that helps:

New Virus Comes Disguised as IE7 Download

If you receive an e-mail offering a download of Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, delete it. A new virus is spreading all over the web. The e-mail includes a convincing graphic that looks like it could really be from Microsoft, and the virus is delivered when recipients click on the included link. The e-mails carry the subject line "Internet Explorer 7 Downloads" and appear to come from admin@microsoft.com. They include a blue, Microsoft-style graphic offering a download of IE 7 beta 2. Clicking the graphic will download an executable file called IE 7.exe. The file is actually a new virus called Virus.Win32.Grum. Security experts are still trying to analyze the virus, which may affect your registry, mail contact list or steal personal information from your computer.

How to check if a driver you downloaded from the internet is a virus?

    New PC DRM!

    You mean:

    Pirated
    Step 1: Find Pirated version.
Step 2: Download (which takes far longer than all the waiting for saving would take if your internet connection truly is slow)
Step 3: Scan downloaded copy with anti-virus.
Step 4: Install and pray hard that it isn't virus infected
Step 5: Install the pirating bit and pray some more that it isn't a virus
Step 6: Enjoy with above worries
    Step 7: Save
