Windows 10: Colors displaying inconsistently across apps.

Heya,

I'm new to this subreddit, so I don't know if someone has already posted about this issue, but I bought a new Dell computer recently, as my old PC's fan died, and I have noticed something about the way it displays colors.

It started when I noticed that the colors for images were looking rather washed-out on Instagram. When I opened Instagram in another browser (Microsoft Edge), I realized that they were displaying as the right colors there. What?

I was willing to believe that these color display issues were just a problem with my browser; however, when editing the images in Adobe Photoshop, I noticed that the colors also looked washed-out there. This has never happened to me before, and it is concerning to me as I am an artist, and if the colors do not look right on Photoshop, it can ruin a whole day's work. Does anyone know what is going on here, and what I can do to fix this, if there is a fix?

Color change in taskbar

Hello pranayvarma,

Just to verify, have you tried changing the color of your taskbar via settings? If so, try it out and check if the color would remain inconsistent. Here are the steps:

1. Launch the Settings app.
2. Select Personalization.
3. Click the Colors tab.
4. Uncheck the Automatically pick an accent color from my background.
5. Set Transparency effects to Off.
6. Under Show accent color on the following surfaces, put a check on
   Start, taskbar, and action center.
7. Pick a color that you want.
8. Restart your PC.

Color bit depth is at 6-bit on Display properties of Windows 10 pro

Try the below suggested steps and check if the suggested options are available to change the Color bit Depth value

1. Right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
2. Expand the Display, and then highlight the Change resolution.
3. On the right side, check if there is 8 bpc listed under
   Output color depth.
4. You may select 8 bpc and restart the device to witness the changes.

how to fiix my display colors

Hi Farbod,

We have different options to personalize your PC depending on your choice. To set your PC's display color back to default, you can follow the steps below:

• Type calibrate display color in the Search fieldlocated at the taskbar.
• Enter your admin username and password in the User Account Control.
• Click Yes then access the settings to calibrate your PC's display colors.

If that does not work for you, you can also try to go to Color Settings. You can choose
Default blue as the Windows color.
