Windows 10: Pointer never updates (stuck on white arrow)

Hi,

For the last few days, my pointer has been stuck in "white arrow" mode, meaning that its shape will never change no matter what. Three examples of my issue:

• When hovering something clickable in Chrome, the pointer will not turn to a hand with the index finger pointing;
• It will not turn to a " I " shape when selecting text or typing;
• When using any tool in any software (Ps, Ai, Id...), the pointer will not take the shape of the selected tool. It will not show the size of brushes either. All the tools still work normally, though.

I was not able to find other posts on this topic online, probably because the issue is difficult to describe with a few words. And even if it does not prevent me from working, it is still pretty annoying, so any solution is welcome.

By the way, I am using TeamViewer to work on my work PC from home, meaning I would prefer solutions that do not involve restarting the work computer since it would mean I would have to ask my boss to go and turn TeamViewer on again there (right? I do not have a TeamViewer license).

I will add that I used the TeamViewer option "Show distant cursor", and can confirm that the issue does not come from my PC since the distant cursor has the same issue, and I do not have this issue on my PC outside of when using TeamViewer.

pointer size

Hi,

Open PC settings.

Step 2: Choose Ease of Access to enter its settings.

Step 3:Click Mouse, and choose new pointer size and color in the options.

Way 2: Change Mouse Pointer size and color in Mouse Properties.

Step 1: Click the lower-right Start button, type mouse in the search box and select Mouse in the results to open Mouse Properties.

Step 2: Tap Pointers, click down arrow, choose a scheme from the list and select OK.

Arrow pointer missing

I am currently running Windows10 on my laptop. Recently, during an update I lost my pointer arrow. I have tried, refresh, and restart to no avail. How do I go about getting the pointer back? The computer is useless without it.

 

Mouse pointer changes to arrow with a vertical scroll bar

The only change I had made was to install Open Office. I just uninstalled it and the issue remains after a restart.

The pointer looks like the 5th and 6th pointers in the pointer list from the Mouse Settings.

As for running trouble shooting:

My settings window does not have drop down list in the upper right.

I do not find anything labeled Troubleshooting in the Settings window so can not get to steps 4 & 5.
