Windows 10: Both Internal and External cameras not working on my laptop

Hey guys,

Strange behavior regarding my camera.

When I open "Camera", I always get this error message:

"Can't start your camera … error code: 0xA00F4246<ErrorRetryFailed> 0x8007000E".

BUT - I can still use my camera in specific apps for a limited time e.g. Zoom meetings for about 2 hours since last restart. On the other hand, I can't get Snap Camera to work, I always get the same error message there "No available camera input". What I did up until now is that I restarted my PC before every meeting...

I thought it happens because the internal camera is warming up, so I bought an external webcam, and surprisingly enough I have the same problems. I can't connect this camera to "Camera" or to "Snap Camera", but the build-in app opens successfully and the camera works perfectly fine there.

So is it a software problem after all? Can I solve it without rebooting my pc?


Things I already checked:

- The Webcam Shutter cover is open

- I downloaded all the drivers for the new camera

- I checked permissions of the camera to all relevant apps

Using an external camera to login to Windows 10

Hi Guys

Hope someone can help me. As I mostly use my laptop with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse with the lid shut, I want to use an external camera for login authentication.

It's logging in is no problem if I have the laptop lid open and use the internal camera, but can't get my external Logitech camera to work.

I've tried following instructions online that say to make it my default camera, but the option to make it my default camera never comes up.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 5000 2-in-1

Internal Hard Drive or External Hard Drive? (For my laptop!)

What would be a lot more worth it? I cant really decide. if I get a bigger HDD internal, I wont have to carry around a external, if I grab an external its handy and I wont need my laptop for some things(movies,music,games,images) but I want to buy one today along with apple snow leopard. suggestions and opinions? I also have 320 total GB of space on my mac

Thanks for updating us on the results of the troubleshooting steps that you have completed. Since the built-in webcam is still not working correctly and the same error code 0xA00F4244 (0xC00DABED) is still appearing, we suggest that we check the camera privacy
settings to see if the camera access is turned on. Kindly follow the steps below to check the camera privacy settings:

• Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
• Near the top of the Settings app window is the search box, kindly type the word "webcam" or "camera".
• From the list of results choose Camera privacy settings.
• Make sure that "Let apps use my camera" toggle is set to On.
