  1. What happened to the JumpListItems_Maximum setting?

I increased my JumpListItems_Maximum setting to 30 so I could display and pin several items in the JumpList. The current Windows limit of 12 is practically useless. Invariably I'm looking for the item that just fell off the list. How can I change that so I can see more than 12 items in the JumpList?

    :)

JumpListItems_Maximum (Recent Items) applying to Windows Explorer but no other apps. Still limited to 10 recent items.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We appreciate your effort on this. We understand that you want to increase the number of Recent Items shown in the Jump list. However, we would like to know the following details:

    • Which registry value have you tried changing?
    • For which applications you are unable to see the recent items in the Jump List?
    • Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer?

Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly.
Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Follow the steps to take backup of registry.

I have tried to modify the registry value JumpListItems_Maximum in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and it seems that the Jump List displays the exact number of recent items, which is set in the registry value.

You may try changing the registry value for JumpListItems_Maximum in the location
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and check if that helps.

    Let us know the results.

    Regards,

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

    Modification of JumpListItems_Maximum

For whatever reason, some systems require the key to be in the HKLM registry, instead (maybe in addition, I've not tried it w/o both) of the HKCU registry. So just follow all of the same steps outlined by the author, but add the JumpListItems_Maximum key to:
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

Again, I haven't tried it without also having this value in the same place in HKCU, so not sure if only this one matters or it requires both, but this instantly fixed it for me. No need to restart or log off or anything. Add the key with a decimal value of 25 (use whatever # you want), right click on the item in the Taskbar and it jumped form 11-12 items to 25.
