    Synaptics TouchPad randomly stops working


    My laptop is only a week old, but during this last week, the TouchPad randomly stops working. Occasionally, a hard reset gets it going again. The lates "Event Report" is shown below.

    So, ive been having this problem recently. Today my Synaptics touchpad randomly stops working, this morning for example it was working perfectly fine but it randomly stopped to work. Sometimes it starts working again after a day or two (rebooting wont
    fix this problem). Ive been trying using the troubleshooter, updating the drivers, reinstalling them but its still not working. My laptop is an HP envy dv6 notebook (5 years old). Thanks in advance for any help.

  3. SYNAPTICS TOUCHPAD NOT WORKING

    Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor.

    Take actions related to touchpad driver

    Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > View tab > Show hidden devices > Expand Human Interface devices > Right click on the touchpad listed there >

    A. Roll back the driver (You will have to repeat the steps for all entries listed including Synaptics)

    Click Properties > Under Driver tab, if Rollback Driver is enabled click it

    B. Update driver from manufacturer's website (You will have to repeat the steps for all entries listed including Synaptics)

    Go to the website of the computer's manufacturer > See if some driver is released for your model and OS > If yes, download that > In previous option, you click Update Driver Software, in place of this, click Uninstall > Install the downloaded driver > Restart

    Synaptics TouchPad randomly stops working

    Latest Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Windows 10


    After updating from b. 10240 to 10586.3 ( W 10 x64), Windows installed an older version of Synaptics 19.0.15.2, before I had 19.0.19.1.
    Also now, in Device Manager, it's listed under PS/2 Port touchpad, before it was SmBus.
    Windows Update does no longer provide 19.0.19.1 driver, Why??
    What are the recommended steps to get installed manually the latest Synaptics driver because with the currently installed driver, mouse scrolling does not work for Start menu - All apps, with 19.0.19.1 it used to work.
    Also what is the name of the x64 .inf to use for update synSmbDrv.inf or SynPD.inf??
