Windows 10: Can Win Explorer show: A) folders alpha order B) Files by date order?

Hello

How can I set up my Windows Explorer view such that in the right hand pane:

A) At the top of the pane, I see the list of folders in alphabetic order

B) Then I see my files sorted by date last edited order

Let me assist you on your issue regarding Windows 10.

"it takes a LONG time for the software to rescan the folder and re-order", which software are you using to rescan and re-order the folder?

You may follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Open the drop box folder in file explorer which needs to be sorted.

2. Click on the view tab in the file ribbon.

3. Now select the sort by option.

4. Select the "date created" option and also select descending order.

5. By select these two options the most recent(new) files will be displayed in the top separated by most recent(new) folders.

Note: The above steps are for drop box folder only, if you want to sort the other folder similarly please follow the above steps.

windows photo viewer display order not as file explorer

I have set file explorer to show my images in date order. I like to click on an image and have it open in W photo viewer, then browse via the arrows through the folder (previously in date order as in file explorer). Unfortunately the viewer is stuck on name
order and not date order. This seems to be since windows 10.

I have tried the regedit fix to get photo viewer to display in date order here:

it does NOT work (yes I restarted).

Any way to fix this please?

(... surprised we have to edit the registry for this yet we're not trusted to update windows manually - strange policy decision?)

(oh and system restore doesn't work with kaspersky installed).

 

Win 10 Task Bar "File Explorer" Button Can't change order of items in stack

Regarding Windows 10 Task Bar "File Explorer" Button

Question: How do you re-arrange the order of items listed in the stack of the "File Explorer" Button in task bar.

Details:

Upgraded from Win 7 Pro 32 Bit.

I had an explorer button on task bar. Items were stacked. You could add any folder to stack by creating a shortcut on desk top, then dragging short cut to Explorer button.

In Win 7, at any time you could re-arrange order just by dragging them to desired spot (like to for recycle bin).

After upgrade to Win 10 Pro 32 Bit, the button is still there on task bar called "File Explorer", if you right click the button you can see the stack, but it will not let me re-arrange the order of the stack.

I'd like to set up a specific customized order (like you can in Win 7), not by date or alphabetical, et...

The instructions below do not appear to offer a way to do this.
