Broken firewall, Windows services falling apart, denied permissions

Hi there, this is my first post in Microsoft's forums ! I hope everyone's doing good.

I'm here because I have a lot of issues with my brand new Windows and computer, after leaving Apple. It's been a few months now and I'm really struggling. so a few months back when I installed my system, I did the mistake of installing a virus of some sort, and since then everything's falling apart.

First of all, every Windows services start to uninstall themselves. So for example, I don't have Windows Store anymore, Xbox Gamebars, Edge, Your Phone, all these basic windows applications were greyed out at first and now long gone. Yesterday, the photos services and night light have disappeared too.

after doing some researches online, I figured I could run the following command Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$$_.InstallLocation\AppXManifest.xml”} in order to reinstall all these apps. But when I run it, I get this : Deployment Failed with HRESULT: 0x80073D0A, the package could not be installed because the Windows Firewall Service is not running.

Indeed, my Windows Firewall is literally destroyed since I first installed that awful virus, I can't run it, it stays on "starting", I can't access Windows Firewall Advanced Security with the error "the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security failed to load. Restart the Windows Defender Firewall Service on the computer." before that error I also had another error here "you're not allowed to access advanced security snap in".

I tried to apply many registry solutions that I found on internet related to these issues, but many times I get the error "/nameofthekey/ cannot be opened. An error is preventing this key from being opened. Details: Access is Denied."

note that I am the only user and administrator of my computer, that I ran every AV I could and Malware Bytes with Premium License and Microsoft's own tools to detect malwares MSERT.exe, etc... and there was nothing at all. I can't perform a hard reset because I have specific files that need precise versions of software I have in order to run for my professional life.

I really need help, I've been struggling for months.

Thanks for taking the time !

    :)

  2. Permission denied

    Hi,

The permission denied error normally appears if you are not using the admin account to run a specific program. To help us identify the appropriate solution to your concern, we'd like to ask for additional information. Kindly answer the following:

    • Are you running the program as administrator when the error appeared?
    • What build and version of Windows 10 are you using?
    • Can you please show us a screenshot of the error message?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

We hope to hear from you soon.

    Permission denied as admin

    Hi,

It's possible that you haven't taken ownership of the folder that you're trying to delete. So we can better assist with you with successfully taking ownership of the folders you want to delete, we'd like to ask the following questions:

    • Which Windows version are you using? Type winver on the search bar and press Enter to find out.
    • Have you made any recent changes on your device prior to the issue?
    • What have you done so far to resolve the issue?

Meanwhile, we suggest that you follow the steps provided by Anup Karkal in this
    thread.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
