  1. Remote Desktop - How to Increase Lock Timeout

I am on Windows 10 Enterprise. I use Remote Desktop Connection to remote into Windows 2012 and Window 2016 Servers and often move back and forth between my machine one or more remote servers. The timeout period, before the RDC forces me to re-enter my password seems very short; 5 to 10 minutes.

How to I increase this timeout I'm not sure of the proper term so that I don't have to enter my password so often. There is no security risk. Is this a setting on my desktop or a setting on the remote server?

    :)

    Remote Desktop Timeout

    Hello,

I'm facing an issue with one of my Remote Desktop machines. I have 2 running in my environment in which I thought were identically configured. I have noticed that with one server if a user is idle for 10 minutes the session will lock and present and screen
saver. ( expected behavior). On my other machine, it takes a few hours of idle time before it presents the user with a locked screen. I logged into both machines and let them sit to simulate idle time. I then logged into another machine and ran quser /server:
</servername>. I noticed that the timer for the working server started to calculate the idle time while the other did not. Has anyone experienced this behavior before?

    Things I have tried.

    • Reboot (a time tested troubleshooting step)
    • Patching
    • sfc /scannow.
    • Verify group policy settings
    • Compared local registry settings with the working RDS server.
    I'm running Server 2016 Datacenter.

  4. Remote Desktop - How to Increase Lock Timeout

Lock screen and timeout not needed for desktop!

I notice that the tablet/phone lock screen is still appearing for Desktop/Laptop installs and wonder why.

Previously when I enable turning off the lock screen in gpedit.msc it turns off the lock screen timeout too. But on the latest build I still get a much sooner timeout to my MS password than what I have set in Power Options.

How do I turn off the supposed Lock Screen timeout when I don't have a lock screen? This is annoying, and surely will annoy MS' billion+ desktop customers who don't need a phone or tablet lockscreen or timeout on their desktop/laptop which already has familar timeouts to password in Power Options.
