  1. Windows 10 Storage Pool Uprade Mistake

On my laptop I have a main m.2 256gb ssd C: and a secondary 1TB hhd D: in a basic non-RAID configuration. I was attempting to back up my photos in the D: drive with a 512gb ssd E: in an enclosure adapter when an error came up after connecting the E: drive. The error showed that the E: was not being recognized correctly and prompted to upgrade the storage pool. The E: showed up normal in "This PC", but I did not to run the risk of my photos being corrupted, so I upgraded the pool to get rid of the error. A few seconds later my D: along with 800gb+ worth of raw photos and documents disappeared from "This PC" as well as the E: drive disappeared.

In Disk management the would be D: showed as unallocated. I first reverted Windows 10 to a previous version of about a month ago in hope that the settings would go back to normal, but nothing changed. I then changed the dive letter back to "D:" in hope that it would recognize it again. A "Local Disk D:" drive now shows in "This PC" but will not open. I check again in Disk Management and on the left side it now shows Disk 0, Basic, 931.39gb, online and the storage appears to be one whole partition with no details.

I have recently taken the D: drive out and have put it in a USB Dock on another laptop to recover the files with R-Studio, so I know all the files are still there. I would prefer to get the D: drive back to normal without formatting it, as I am not sure if all the files were successfully recovered and are not corrupted.

    :)

How to remove a bad drive in Windows 10 storage spaces pool

Could someone list the steps involved in replacing a bad drive from a Windows 10 storage spaces pool? I cannot find any info on the Microsoft support site that is specific to Windows 10. Also, could you list the steps to remove a 'good' drive and replace
it with another drive if the process is different?
