  1. System consuming a little more CPU frequently causing computer to lag

My computer is consuming more cpu frequently which changes from 0% to 50 % and cause to system lag and also make warning sounds. When I restart the computer , it works for a day and again the problem persists. I have been facing this since last month and opted for solution by updating drivers, fragmenting disk , updating windows and many more which I find when I googled. But not any process solved my problem. Please suggest a good remedy. I have to restart my pc in the middle of my work .

    :)

System and compressed memory background process persistently consuming high CPU resources

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

    1. Did you make any changes to your computer prior to this issue?

    2. Which anti-virus program is installed on the PC?

    High CPU usage occurs for various reasons, for example: virus/malware infections, out-of-date drivers, anti-virus programs or other third-party programs, etc;

Method 1: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with system. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your System
    Maintenance.

    Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
    • Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
    • Run the System Maintenance troubleshooter

Method 2: Check if the issue resolves in
    Safe Mode.

Refer this article to boot to safe mode:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10#v1h=tab01

Steps to reduce the CPU usage.

1-Press "Ctrl," "Shift," and "Esc" on your keyboard. This brings up the task manager without any intermediary screen.

2-Click the "Processes" button on the task manager.

3-Click the "CPU" column header until the arrow next to the label points down.

4-Right-click a program you recognize that uses a high percentage of the CPU and click "End Process." Click "End Process" to reconfirm. This eases up on the CPU's load. Use this step if you're not using a process or if the process has stopped responding. Do
not use this procedure for windows processes.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

    Thanks.

    • Click on Control Panel.
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • On the left pane, click on View All.

Windows 10 Slideshow causing major system lag

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

May I know the make and the model number of the system?

Which build version of Windows is installed on the computer?

This issue could be caused when the drivers are not up to date after a hardware changes, you can try the troubleshooting steps below so that we can narrow down to the root cause of the issue.

    Method 1: Update graphics driver.

    1. I suggest you to
update graphics drive from device manager
and check, to find the graphics driver from device manager, you can expand the
display adapters from the device manager.
    2. I would also suggest you to check if there are any other drivers with a yellow exclamation mark, if so, please update the specific drivers by following the steps provided in the article above.
    3. You can also try to put the system under
High Performance and check if that helps you, do to that you can.

    1. Click on Start and then
      Control Panel.
    2. From the list of displayed item under
Control Panel click on Power Options, which takes you to
Select a power plan page. If you do not see
      Power Options
, type the word 'power' in the Search Control Panel
box and then select Choose a power plan.
    3. By default, the option to change power plans is disabled. To enable this, click the
Change settings that are currently unavailable link.
    4. Choose theHigh Performance
      option
    5. Close the Power Option
      window.

    Method 2: Improve system performance.

If you still face the issue, I suggest you to follow the article on

Tips to improve PC performance in Windows 10
and check if this helps you.

Disclaimer: The last step on this article contains the steps to
Reset your PC, I suggest you not to perform that step, as it will wipe the data and application on your computer.

If you still need any further help, reply to this post with more information.

    Hope it helps.
