Windows 10: Broken shadows in UWP apps

I have a strange problem with "broken" shadows in all UWP apps after update to 2004. It looks like if the shadow under the tooltip or menu is rendered on top of it instead. The issue remains after restart, appears and disappears randomly on its own. Here are some screenshots:

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Remove all UWP built in apps in Windows 1903

The Windows 10 1903 feature update now lets the users to uninstall a few apps using the
Context menu. If you’re on the latest build of Windows 10, it will let you uninstall a few UWP applications using the
Context Menu.





Please find the list of apps that can now be uninstalled using the Context menu below:

• Groove Music
• Mail
• Movies & TV

Cortana is an integral part of Windows and she cannot be entirely turned off. However, if you don’t want Cortana functionality available to you on your taskbar, I would suggest you to follow these steps:
Manage Cortana settings.

Remote Desktop Shadow not working in Creators Update

Shadowing was broken in the Nov 1709 release. I have a machine that's only patched to December and doesn't have KB4056892 (a Jan patch) that you've listed and shadowing does not work. I have other machines, also 1709, but have been patched to the latest
(Windows update enabled) which also do not have KB4056892. I noticed the shadowing behavior change slightly through the months but is still broken. From the log I've written down my experience has been this:

Fresh install to 1607 - shadow works

Windows update to 1709 in Nov - shadow broken, however workaround of manually running rdpsaproxy.exe in the user session worked

Windows updates to Jan - shadow broken and workaround was broken as well

Windows updates to Feb - shadow broken and workaround works again

I'm not certain which KB changed the behavior by on my control machine that is only patched to Dec, shadowing only works with the workaround.

In addition, I just tested on my image which is at 1607. Restored the image, confirmed that shadowing works correctly, then ran all Windows updates to latest (which upgrades to 1709) as of today Mar 12th, shadowing
is still broken.
