What is this volume, which named "\\?\Volume{xxx...xxx}\"? My method of clean-installing is wrong?

Hello everyone. Thank you for your interesting to this topic.

I want to ask you about some volumes, which named that "\\?\Volume{xxx...xxx}\".

Today, I was trying to clean install Windows 10 Home Fall Creators Update to my desktop PC.

First, I tried to create a bootable USB memory as an install media of Windows 10 by using Media Creation Tool downloaded from MS official site to my other laptop PC.
But a message that "You must use USB flash memories above 8GB" was showed.

(It is pity that I have no SB memories ove 8GB. I am having only some USB memories which are including 4GB storages ...)

Therefore, I was downloaded ISO file by using Media Creation Tool, and then, I opened it as "Mount" by using official feature of Windows 10 Home.

Then I copied all files at the window to desktop of the PC, and then I copied them to USB memory (4GB storage). The sum of them was below 4 GB.

I connected the USB flash memory to the desktop PC, and re-started with "Custom Starting" by configured at Setting menu of Windows 10.

And after OS installing section, I was configuring the PC as "my PC".

But now, I was shown a unknown volume at defrag tool's list of Windows 10.

The name of this volume is "\\?\ Volume {xxx... xxx}\". This charactors at the part of "xxx ... xxx" was replaced by me for keeping privacy. This is like Hash code.

1 years ago, I faced the situation like this time when I tried to clean installing of Windows 10 to same desktop PC.

At then the unknown volume was removed after repeating clean-installing.

But this time, the unknown volume as been remain at the list of defrag tool.



QUESTION 1:

Why I can not remove this unknown volume from the list of official deflug tool of Windows 10?

QUESTION 2:

Is the method I tried at this time wrong for clean installing to my PC?

QUESTION 3:

Why does the unknown partition appeared at the list sometime, and not at sometime?

My PC is Windows 10 home 64bit.

 

I Have 125 GB of "Unknown" Files {was: <Unknown>}

I am running Windows 7 and based on WinDirStat, I have 125 GB of Unknown files on my 232.8 GB SSD drive.

I have tried deleting all restore points and cleaning up the computer to no avail. I am down to less than 2 GB of computer disk space available.

Any suggestions on how I can get my memory back?

 

unknown, Not initialize, unallocated external hard disk want to initialize

I wanted to initialize unknown, unallocated,not initialize external hard disk, but when I go to disk manager and try to initialize the message pop up "Virtual disk manager access denied".

Secondly, drive do not have any letter, and I CAN'T to assign letter to drive (in order to go for chkdsk in prompt command). when I right click on unknown & unallocated drive then there is only option left are properties help and offline.

My question is how can I initialize the drive or bring the status online in order to assign drive letter and initialize the disk?
