Hi Rene,

If you meant the Cortana search bar, review the suggested solutions on these threads:

• Can't type in Windows 10 search bar.
• Can't type anything in Win 10 Apps (Cortana, Search, Calculator, Feedback, etc.)

Not able to type

Form few days I am not able to type anything in Cortana search bar as well as not able to type wifi password to connect the wifi. I found one file "C:\Windows\system32\ctfmon.exe" on the internet. I always have to run this file and then only I can be
able to type. I want the permanent solution of this problem. Please help.

Thank you for replying and sharing the information.



Based on the build version 18362.387 that you are using, I would suggest you to check if the update KB4517211 is installed on the computer. To check go to
Start >> Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Update >> View update history.



If the update is installed on the computer, we would suggest you to uninstall the update and check if that helps. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + R, to open
   Run dialog box.
   
2. Type appwiz.cpl and click on
   OK.
   
3. Now, click on View installed updates on the left pane.
   
4. Look for the update KB4517211, right click on it and select
   Uninstall.
   
5. Restart the computer.
   

Once the computer is restarted, we would suggest you to check for updates by going to
Start >> Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Update >> Check for updates
and install all the pending updates.
