  1. Constantly Having Issues with Permissions

So over the past few months I've been having constant problems with Windows, a lot of them seem related to broken permissions. Apart from the fact that I already had to reinstall Windows 10 3 times in the matter of a month because it likes breaking and refusing to boot for some reason, even when it is running I'm constantly having permission related issues. One of the main ones is with search indexing, which constantly turns itself off, and when I try to go turn the service on, I just get told that "access is denied", and even going in and forcefully turning it on in the registry editor doesn't work, as the start value, which I change to 1, then changes itself back to 2 after some time. Broken permissions seem to also be the reason behind a lot of other errors, like with the MS store, as no apps are downloading due to error 0x80070005 which looking online seems like a permissions error none of the online tips I could find fixed. In fact they just made it worse, as now MS store, along with many other MS apps like Photos just refuse to launch, either they load forever like the Store, or just nothing happens when you click on it like with Photos. Any ideas what could be causing all these random issues? And no I have no malware on the PC. And yes I did try sfc /scannow already, and all it said is it found corrupted files but couldn't fix them. I also tried the DISM method of fixing files, I ran the search indexing troubleshooter, I ran the MS Store troubleshooter, I ran wsreset, I ran take ownership on folders, and still none of it helped. And many of these issues I've already had on my previous install of Windows, and some even on the install before that. Any ideas why my PC is having all these problems??

Also currently the MS Store tile in Start is just grayed out, with a little white bar at the bottom of the tile. I can still click on it, but then it's just stuck on the loading screen forever.

    :)

  2. Folder won't open due to permission issue

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft community. I understand your concern. Let me help you.

I suggest you to sign out from the current account, restart the computer and log in with Administrators account and

check if it helps to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to refer to the steps below and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

    • Press and hold or right-click the file or folder, and then click
      Properties.

    • Tap or click the Security tab.

    • Under Group or user names, tap or click your name to see the permissions that you have.

To open a file, you have to have the Read permission. To change the permissions of a file or folder, follow these steps.

Important you must be logged on as an administrator to change permissions on files and folders.

    • Press and hold or right-click the file or folder, and then tap or click
      Properties.

    • Tap or click the Security tab.

    • Under Group or user names, tap or click your name to see the permissions that you have.

    • Tap or click Edit, tap or click your name, select the check boxes for the permissions that you must have, and then click
      OK.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us with more information and we’d be happy to help.

  3. Bree Win User
    Permission issue

Presumably because TrustedInstaller is the owner (hence you need its permission), suggesting that img3.jpg was installed by Windows at some time.

Presumably that also means it can be uninstalled. How did you get it in the first place? Where is it located?

If you really want to delete it yourself, then taking ownership would seem a logical first step.

    Windows 10 Permissions Issues

Hooray!!!! Thanks so much, you are a superstar. Issue resolved.

I thought the fact that "Administrators" were listed in the permissions meant that all Admins had access, but apparently not. Now I added my specific login account, it works fine.

Thanks so much for your help, these UAC things in Windows are quite confusing, I am not (entirely) stupid!!
