Computer changed resolution and runs incredibly slowly

It happened seemingly randomly. The resolution changed and everything is slightly bigger and looks squashed, opening anything takes incredibly long. task manager doesnt open. opening 'this pc' in files takes so long that i couldnt wait for it or it gets stuck. ETDCtrl.exe error message keeps popping up. I tried to open the computer in safe mode from the black screen, and either it doesnt work or i cant do it correctly. Please help

    :)

Basically my E63 is running incredibly slowly and will not run any applications or even allow me to send a text. It allows me to make a phone call, but only if I type in the number from the main screen, which takes about 30 seconds to appear once ive typed
it. Any ideas what the problem is?

  4. Computer changed resolution and runs incredibly slowly

    Resolution change problem

    Hi Miles,

Booting your computer into safe mode may help resolve the issue. Safe mode will adjust your computer's resolution back to default, thus make your monitor or tv work again. Follow the steps below:

    • Power On your PC.
    • Press F8 during the first 10-15 seconds of your computer booting up.
    • Advance Boot Options should load, select Safe Mode.
    • Once in Safe Mode, try adjusting the resolution settings.
    • Restart your computer.
If the issue still persists after doing the steps, we suggest using another monitor to help resolve the issue.

Get back to us with the outcome so we can help you out further.
