No WiFi, no Bluetooth when starting Windows and strange sleep behaviour

    Hi Microsoft Community,

I have been encountering a pretty annoying problem with my new PC for a while. Sometimes ~75% of the time, when starting my PC from a full shutdown, my wireless adapters simply won't work, nor show on my PC. It's like they are simply not present in the machine. It's a bummer because I am using both WiFi and a Bluetooth keyboard.

I went through a fair amount of threads online to try and fix the problem updates, drivers, power options, deactivating hibernating options, etc. and nothing seems to have fixed my problem. The only way for me to 100% be sure that the cards will work is by shutting the PC down, powering it off, unplugging it and pressing the power buttons for 30". But I don't call that a fix.

Please note that the PC seems to have random issues related to hibernating and sleeping patterns. PC will only go to sleep if it does on its own accord that is according to the power plan if left untouched. Putting to sleep manually will just wake it up right after.

Alongside these problems, I changed some options in the BIOS because when off/sleeping/hibernating, the PC used to keep my external HDDs spinning at all times.

All parts are legit and new see https://be.pcpartpicker.com/user/thhrss/saved/#view=gPkBZL for details and Windows is a brand new USB copy. CPU's not overclocked, RAM's running at advertised speed through a profile.

I have a feeling all these issues are related but can't seem to pinpoint what seems to cause the problem. The PC is running flawlessly besides the aforementioned issues. I would be extremely grateful if someone could help me figure it out. I cannot figure out if this is a hardware issue, Windows issue, or simply human error on my part.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

    :)

Hibernating laptop changes to sleep behaviour after Windows 10 May 2019 update

    Hi Aditya,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the two steps (turning of Hybrid sleep and Fast startup) you suggested but to no avail. Okay, for your two questions:

    1. My laptop is a HP Pavilion 14-bf101tx, and currently running Windows 10 1903 (upgrading from 1809).
    2. Nope. No error messages. I suppose the boot process was successful, however, my battery was reduced. That's why I suggest the post title as "Hibernating changes to sleep behaviour" because the battery level reduction looks like sleep behaviour.

Please inform me of any diagnostics information you might need. Thank you for your kind assistance.

    Cortana strange behaviours

    Hello Gabriel,

We need to do further investigation on your concern so that we can identify why Cortana is not working properly:

    • Have you recently made any change/updates prior to this issue?
    • Did you try to login to a different user account to check if it is the same?

In the meantime, you can try these steps to isolate the issue:

As an initial recommendation, we suggest that you perform the troubleshooting steps listed in this

    article

No WiFi, no Bluetooth when starting Windows and strange sleep behaviour

Bluetooth will not connect when the PC wakes up from sleep on Windows 10.

You mentioned that Bluetooth isn't working only if the computer have just been activated after sleep. To further isolate the issue, we suggest that you turn off hibernation. Follow this step by step instructions:

    • Right click on the Start Menu button, and choose Command Prompt (Admin)
    • Enter the following line: powercfg /h off
    • Press Enter.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thank you.
