Windows 10: Windows Hello Face, Pin, and Fingerprint Not Working "Option Not Available" "Something Went...

Sir/Ma'am,


I have recently done update 2004 on Windows 10 on my Microsoft Surface Book 1. Since then the Windows Hello function allowing my face to be scanned by the camera, the pin function, and the fingerprint reading option are no longer working.


When in the "sign-in" section of settings it says "Option Not Available" and when I click on it to get further information the words "Something Went wrong - Try again later" is written in red ink. Sign in using the account password, the picture key, and the security key are available. I am currently using the password option, but would like to have the other abilities restored.


Any help you are able to provide to remedy this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Windows hello option is not available

Thank you for writing to us.

Please be informed, in order to use Windows Hello you will need a compatible “depth” camera compatible device. Facial authentication will need a 3D depth camera to get it working. No existing webcams will not work. Additional features like
finger print authentication will work with any existing fingerprint sensor devices.

In order to active this feature, you must have the right hardware and the driver is installed.

Follow the below steps to configure Windows Hello.

• 
  Head to “Settings” and then click on “Accounts”, and next on “Sign-in options”.
  
• 
  Set up a PIN code (ignore this step if you already did) by click on “Add” button. Once you have done that step, the options to set up Windows Hello will visible.
  
• 
  You will see an option named “Face”, just click on “Set Up”.
  
• 
  Click on “Get started”.
  
• 
  Move yourself to the front of the camera and make sure your face is in the center of the frame. It will automatically register your face to the system.
  
• 
  There is an improvement option in the next step to improve recognition. Use it if you wear glasses (or not). It will help to make sure you are recognized in quality.

Windows Hello Face/Fingerprint

The Windows Hello Face/Fingerprint feature was working on my HP Envy and now it is not working and it says that my laptop camera/fingerprint scanner is not compatible, when it was working less than 12 hours ago. When I look into how to reconnect or find
Window Hello Fingerprint/Face biometrics the only help I get is to the Windows 10 sign-in options.
I need to know how and were to find the Windows Hello Face/fingerprint biometrics management settings that is not in the sign-in options, but is how to re-download it or check it's compatibility status with my laptop.

 

Windows Hello - PIN and Fingerprint not working anymore

First, this is similar with
this question, but that thread is locked with no solution.

After some months of fingerprint login working fine, after some update few months ago fingerprint stopped working, error message like "windows hello encountered a problem and stopped working".

- noticed that PIN is not set up anymore

- tried to set up PIN or fingerprint - not working (fingerprint sensor was not even recognized by Hello, even though Dell tools verification was ok).

- reinstalled fingerprint sensor driver, managed to determine Hello to find sensor and allowed to set up fingerprint until near the end when it requested for a PIN to be setup. asked for my password but the next screen (to enter PIN twice) never appears

- deleted Ngc folder, recreated, managed to set up PIN individually

- when I try to set up fingerprint click on Get Started, asks for PIN, and after I enter the PIN the popup disappear but does't go to the next step with sensor, stays there with only the Cancel button visible.

To answer obvious questions:

- windows updates done. no change

- new account created and tried to set up. same issues with fingerprint setup, at the end not setting up PIN or I set up PIN separately on fingerprint start does not go further than entering PIN after Get Started.
