Windows 10: Remote start up?

I do research in a physics lab where I need to run multiple simulations at a time on multiple different computers all using Windows 10. During this Covid pandemic, I've been accessing all of the computers from home via Remote Desktop. These simulations can be quite demanding, occasionally causing the computer to completely freeze or even shutdown in case you were wondering, the simulations save results as they go so nothing of value is lost.


Here's my question: is there by some magic a way to boot up a computer remotely? I have other computers on the same network if that can be of use. My current solution has been to ask the one person still allowed in the lab to go in restart/boot up the problematic computers, but if there exists a solution where I don't have to bother/be waiting on someone else, that would be awesome.

HP Connected Remote is an app that comes preinstalled on select Windows HP computers. I would suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it resolves this issue.

• On the Windows 10 Start screen, type hp connected remote.
• Click HP Connected Remote from the Apps search results.
• Click Settings, and make sure Enable HP Connected Remote is turned On.

Can I start a computer remotely?


It occurs to me that maybe I'm working on the wrong computer. Possibly the remote computer is configured properly and the problem is with the computer sending the wake-up call.

Can someone recommend a step-by-step protocol for pinging or sending a wake up command to the remote computer?

- Which version of Windows 10 Operating System are you using?

- Were you able to upgrade to Windows 10 successfully?

I suggest you to refer the below steps and see if this helps.

• 
  Enable remote desktop in settings
  
  • Control Panel\System and Security\System, Click "Remote Settings" on the left side
• 
  Verify my port forwarding settings were properly forwarding to my computers local IP address
  
  • run "cmd.exe" and then type "ipconfig". Find your IP from that list

• Make sure your firewall settings are open
• Go to "Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Firewall\Allowed apps"

• On the left, click "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall"
• Click "Change Settings"
• Find "Remote Desktop" in the list and make sure both "Private" and "Public" is checked.
