    Updated camera driver SPUVCBv_x64.sys in Windows 10 2004 is causing a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION


    The system is a Lenovo Helix notebook 3697CTO with a front facing camera by SunplusIT. It was updated from Windows 10 version 1909 and when the Windows 10 camera app was opened the system crashed with a blue screen indicating that the camera driver SPUVCBv_x64.sys caused a system service exception.


    Inspecting the problem file, the version was 6.0.0.1 with a file date of 27-Jul-2015.


    The system was rolled back to 1909 and the camera worked fine. The driver file version at that time was 5.0.0.93 and dated 15-Mar-2013.


    Checking the Lenovo website, the most recent driver available is 5.0.0.93 so the system was then upgraded to Windows 10 version 2004 and the camera drivers were uninstalled and reinstalled from the older Lenovo release 5.0.0.93. The camera app now works with the front facing camera.


    Since the new driver is incompatible with the current hardware, how do I prevent Windows Update from replacing the original SPUVCBv_x64.sys file with a newer broken version?

    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (igdkmd64.sys)

    I try to install newest Intel HD Graphics 4600 drivers on Windows 10, but get the BSOD: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (igdkmd64.sys). I tried drivers from:

    • Intel site
    • Asus (Motherboard manufacturer) site
    • Windows Update

    This error come every time when trying to update the drivers. The Device Manager shows Microsoft generic VGA graphics adapter drivers and Intel drivers cannot be installed. The BSOD comes either while installing or after reboot.

    The system has only Intel's onboard graphics.

    How could I get Intel drivers installed without BSOD?

    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION IGDKMD64.SYS

    After upgrading to Windows 10 I'm seeing the following error:

    SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION IGDKMD64.SYS

    I have version 10.18.10.4252 of the driver but the system will not boot up normally. I can boot up in safe mode fine.

    Also, when I start up Windows Update it just spins and never does anything.

    Any ideas?
