Microsoft account security scam? [IMG]It came from the follwing email address Microsoft Windows Account <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>I was able to log into my microsoft account without any problems, however the one thing

that caught my eye is that all of a sudden my birthdate was changed in my profile

from 12/6/75 to 12/31/75, which seems odd but I did change it back to the correct date.

I just want to make sure, this is indeed a scam since it did arrive in my inbox and not my spam folder. Does everyone believe this was an attempted scam? I tried to report it to microsoft as a scam but couldnt fit the scam email in the message area so it was of no use.

    Thanks

I then logged into my microsoft account without any issues but the one thing that caught my eye is that all of a sudden my birthdatebirthdate had changed from 12/06/75 to 12/31/75 which seems odd how that happened? I changed it back to the correct date but its rather pelexing how this change occurred. I knew it was a scam due to the gmail address that it came from rather than microsoft and because if all the grammer error

    :)

  2. Microsoft account security confirmation - is this a scam?

My friend just got 2 e-mails purporting to be from Microsoft Account Team.

The first one says her Microsoft account has been renamed. The renaming takes her current gmail address and changes 1 character in it.

    The email then says:

If this is correct, you don't need to do anything.

If this is incorrect, please follow these steps:
    1. Reset your password by going to Reset your password
    2. Rename your account by going to https://account.live.com/

    Thanks,
    The Microsoft account team

The second email is titled Verify Your Email Address.

There is a link to verify her current (i.e. UNchanged gmail address) and she is told she may be asked to enter a security code. There is also a link to click if she didn't make the request to verify the account.

She DOES NOT have a Microsoft account to her knowledge.

Has anyone else encountered this, which is presumably a scam?
