  1. Is there any way to repair Explorer.exe or restore it?

I think my explorer.exe is really messed up. It keeps crashing even if I manually end it and restart it using task manager. I can still use apps as long as I start the app before explorer crashes. (By crash I mean i get a black screen shortly after I login to my desktop with cursor control, I can stil lstart tasks and apps with task manager) (my IT knowledge is very limited)

unable to restore favorites in Internet Explorer 11

    Hello,

I can understand the inconvenience you have experienced.

I would suggest you to try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

How to restore the favorite’s folder in Internet Explorer.

    • To open the Registry Editor, click Start.
    • Type regedit into the Start Search field.
    • Press Enter.
    • Find Favorites under the following Registry keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Shell folders
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell folders

    HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Shell folders

    HKEY_USERS\.default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell folders

    • Right click it and select Modify. The Edit String dialog will open.
    • Verify that the Value Data field contains the correct location of your Favorites folder. If it does not, enter the right location to restore your missing Favorites folder to Internet Explorer.
    C:\Users\NetID\Favorites

    • Close the registry editor.
    • Open Internet Explorer to confirm that your favorites are there.
Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you
follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to

Cool way to repair a laptop

    That is awesome.
Just wanted to mention, if you're gonna bake the whole board like that thread in jagd's post, I'd suggest putting some type of clay around the plastic parts, and maybe the capacitors too.

It looks like it didn't matter then, but I'd do it anyway.

Kudos to the copper core idea, thinking about repairing a 360 that way now

Is there any way to repair Explorer.exe or restore it?

Windows 10 wont boot, repair, reset, or system restore

    Hi,

The issue occurs due to an
    unfinished update process which
corrupted the system files. We suggest that you try these troubleshooting
methods and run the update again:

    Method 1:
    Run SFC Scan.

    To run an
    SFC scan, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt as Administrator.

    • Type
      sfc /scannow
      and hit
      Enter.

This will check and run an auto-repair on the issue.

    Method 2:
    Run DISM Tool.

    After running the
    SFC scan
and the issue still persist, run the
    DISM
to check the system health and to try restoring the files. To run
    DISM tool, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt as Administrator.

    • Type the following command:

      • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /scanhealth

      • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    NOTE:
    This might take a while
    to finish scanning.
    Do not cancel.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards.
