Windows 10: Side by side configuration problem in Outlook

Get the side by side configuration error when trying to open a link in an Outlook email. Have done the following to no avail: Check Registry setting it was correct, did sfc/scannow - results said some corrupted files were found and corrected but it didn't fix the side by side error, Program Compatibility Troubleshooter on Windows - did not fix, when I went to event log I got 78.0.3904.70 for what was missing. Can you help?

Outlook 2016 problems

As suggested by Appleoddity, the first step is to disable all your add-ins to determine whether the issue is caused by a problematic add-in.

If issue still continues when all add-ins are disabled, then you can try renaming the following \Outlook registry key to \Outlook-1 when Outlook is closed:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook

Then, start Outlook and create your new profile to test it. When you start Outlook in safe mode, most of the customization settings are disabled, and these customization settings are stored in the \Outlook registry key. If it doesn't work, you can just renaming the newly generated \Outlook key to \Outlook-2, and then rename the \Outlook-1 key back to \Outlook.

 

While configuring outlook password windows disappears

Greetings, if the password windows disappears when configure your account, I suggest you try the follow steps to configure your Office 365 account in Outlook desktop client. in this way, there is no need to type in password in new pop up window.

1. Please right click on “Start” button > click
   search > type "Control Panel” in the search box.
2. Find and click the Mail > Click
   Show Profiles.
3. Click Add >
   type in a custom profile name > then type in your Office 365 account and password >
   Next > Finish.
4. Start your Outlook with this new profile.

If it still doesn't work, to better help you, may I know if you configure the Office 365 account or other account type in your Outlook desktop client? Meantime, please provide your detailed Outlook version for us.
