Windows 10: Connection speed is half that I get on Ubuntu on the same PC

Hi,

Here is my issue:

• until April I had my Windows 8.1 main PC and I could get the best wifi speed from my home connection with my tlwn722n usb adapter i.e. about 6MB/s i.e. about 50 mbps, which is the same speed I get with every other device connected to the same network e.g. my Windows 10 Surface Go, my smartphone etc.
• then I had to replace my motherboard on my main PC it's been off for 6 weeks and I got it back working a few days ago and soon reinstalled a fresh version of Windows 8.1: I noticed that the wifi speed was not as good as that I had until April: now it is "just" 3 MB/s screenshot
• then I installed a fresh version of Windows 10 Pro N and the problem was still there. Actually I installed Windows 10 three times consecutively because of other problems, but everytime I experienced the "slow" I know it's not actually slow as it is 25 mbps, but it's slower connection

Here is some info:

• I have always had Ubuntu 18 LTS on dual boot and everything has always worked fine there 6 MB/sscreenshot
• my other devices are all fine: 6 MB/s everywhere: screenshot from my Surface go,connection properties from my Surface go
• connection properties from my main PC running Windows 10
• connection speed from task manager from my main PC running Windows 10
• I have a secondary wifi for guests it comes from the same router and my main PC goes 3 MB/s there as wellscreenshot
• upload speed is always and everywhere the same and it is OK
• I am basing my measurement of connection speed on speedtest.net and speedof.me speedtests from both Chrome and Edge, and also on NetSpeedMonitor tool and Task Manager speed monitor

• my new motherboard is Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE
• at the moment it is difficult for me to get a cabled ethernet connection

• the reason why I also reinstalled windows after replacing the motherboard is that I had messed up some windows files related to drivers before the motherboard died using the PatchCleaner tool I think this is unrelated to my current issue because now I reinstalled the whole system but who knows...

Here is what I tried:

• tried everything from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10741/windows-fix-network-connection-issues
• a weird thing is that I tried just for fun to measure the connection speed from Edge browser of Windows 10 Sandbox and it is a little bit better: 36 mbps vs 25-30 mbps, yet still not the best it could be screenshot
• another fun thing is that when I connected my main PC to my smartphone mobile data wireless hotspot I could go full speed: I got around 6 MB/s on my main pc, which is the maximum I can get with my mobile data on my phone in this area. I cannot currently reproduce this because today it looks like my mobile data is slow as well I say it based on measurement on smartphone, not on PC of course, but I'll try again
• restarted modem-router and PC several times
• changed router settings like channel, bandwidth 20/40 Mhz, channel frequency 2.5/5 Ghz, but actually my adapter only supports 2.4 Ghz
• uninstalled driver and reinstalled from cd and from TPLink website
• my bios & motherboard drivers & Windows 10 & browsers & network adapter drivers are up to date
• tried to change some parameters in Device Manager > TPLink Adapter > Advanced but nothing good came out
• various reinstallations of windows 10 and 8.1
• I also used a Windows to Go usb drive some days ago and I seem to remember that maybe I got full speed there, but I am not sure, if needed I can check

At the moment I have tried everything I can, so I am out of ideas and my only guess is that the problem is something with drivers since Ubuntu works fine, but I don't know how else can I solve the problem since reinstalling the drivers didn't work the adapter is officially said to support Windows 10. Also, I exclude the possibility that the upgrade from windows 8.1 to 10 could have discontinued support to this hardware since before installing Windows 10 I installed Windows 8.1 for like 2 days and it didn't work there either.

qBittorrent downloading only at half speed!?

I did another test with my girlfriends laptop. And I was.. wft is going on.

Test:
- oakla speed test, max speed 4-5 MB/s
- downloading ubuntu with browser, 4-5 MB/s
- downloading ubuntu with qbittorrent, 4-5 MB/s without problem all the time.

Yes, I am pretty sure problem is in my desktop pc (I doubt) or lan port on router.

Any suggestions?

I get half internet speed on my new PC


Right click your wireless icon on the task bar, click open network and sharing center. Click on your wifi connection to open the wifi status window. What speed are you connected at?
