Windows 10: There's no option to format a blank CD in Windows 10

    There's no option to format a blank CD in Windows 10


    Since I upgraded to Windows 10, I'm unable to find a way to format a CD. The CD drive is showing up in Explorer, and the device manager says the driver is up to date. I've used Dell Support Assist, and the drive is working properly. When I click on AutoPlay to burn using File Explorer, nothing happens. When I right click the drive in File Explorer, there's no option to format. I'm unable to copy files to the CD because Windows says it can't read the disc and I need to format it before using it. It seems to be a Windows 10 catch-22. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Different problem. I have one song on it already wanted to burn the whole album.

    Now its saying not a blank CD. So trying to format to remove the one song . Wont let me add anymore because its not blank. Its not an RW thought but I know I have formatted a CD R before on Windows 7.

    Hi,

    I'm not sure what you are trying to do, but you shouldn't need to format a blank CD..

    This is normally done as the CD is burned..

    You may need to change a setting as shown in the above image...
