  1. user permission settings and access control setup

hi ! i am vamsi. my dad is setting up a small company and me and my dad had brought laptops, the issue is he wanted me to set up the laptop such that user cannot modify the OS and the system should ask the admin permission whenever they are trying to install software of any kind and he also asked.and the user cannot access all of the drive which OS is present and need to set passwords to certain files . as i have less experience doing these settings and i browsed the net for some options and nothing helped me to full extent . so if there is any kind of suggestions, it could be helpful .

    :)

  2. Setting "Everyone" in File Sharing to Work with Specific Users

I tried post #9 instructions and could not make them work. I am quoting them below for the convenience of anyone following the thread:
Below is what I did to test the share access. The No. 1 settings granted everyone access. The No. 2 settings granted no user access, including the user on the "white list.":

    How to setup users’ permission?

    Hi,

I have some issues to setup users’ permission, and now, let me tell what i have done and what I want to do....

    Disk partition plan

I have made some disk partitions on my computer:

    • Partitions the SSD into two drives: C Drive and A Drive.
    • Partitions the HD into four drives: E Drive, F Drive, and S Drive.
    Permissions setting plan

    • C Drive is a SYSTEM drive that is only for all user accounts.
    • A Drive is Application drive that for installing other software besides the system program.
    • E Drive is for using Administrator account, but does not display and is not available for Secondary account when logged in with Secondary account.
    • F Drive is using for Secondary account, but does not display and is not available for Administrator account when logged in with Administrator account.
    • S Drive is shared disk that to be sharing files between two accounts.
    As shown below:

Here are some issues what i have

I have tried to add family account and other user account respectively to my PC (both are standard user accounts), but I have some issues cannot fix:

    • Except the user files which are on C driver, other files are basically accessible between two accounts. For example, all users account can access the folder and files which stored into other drives.
    • Some third-party software have errors/cannot run properly when logged in by secondary user account.

    My question is…

How to setup users’ permission? Such as:

    • How to allow a secondary user account to open specific third-party apps only?
    • All account and its user files much be completely independent between each other, as an image shown above.
    • Any other setting may need to improve security and privacy for each account?

    Many Thx.

Setting "Everyone" in File Sharing to Work with Specific Users

First, thanks for your patience explaining this--I really appreciate it. Second, ok, maybe it is not "misinformation," but the way you and Samuria set your network up makes a lot more sense to me and I want to do it that way. And BTW, I tried the ways explained in those articles, and it just did not work for me. And I just read some of the comments underneath the articles, and it did not work for some of the readers too. When I re-read the articles, I see that the critical difference between your approach and their approach is that they made all changes through Share Permissions and no changes through NTFS permissions. And those approaches never specified that they were doing so because the network had FAT-32 files, they just said that this is the way to do it. Anyway, it did not work. That's why I landed here.

This was the step by step I was looking for all these months--Thanks!! Can't wait to try it when the network is not active. If it works, I'll mark this thread as SOLVED and give you max award points--(do you do that here-I haven't checked). It it doesn't, I will give you my NTFS permissions screen shot for further help. Thanks again.
