  1. Disk Defrag Utility is not showing C: Drive!

I am a Windows 10 user and my Disk Defragment Utility is not showing C: Drive. Disk Defrag Utility is not showing C: Drive! e7cc5b7b-c9f5-4135-83af-61117a5558e6?upload=true.png

I can see the Drive in Disk Management.

I also did a chkdsk /r search and it told me that the drive could be checked after a reboot and did that but it took almost 16 hours and was stuck at 11%, therefore I had to shutdown by pressing the power button for some seconds.

The system still asks me to perform a reboot to check the HDD but it took so much time before... so I am ignoring it.

    :)

  2. Missing Disk on the Disk Defragment Utilities

Hi everyone, I recently clean installed the latest version of Ubuntu on my laptop, I run a dual-boot system by the way. Before that, I installed a software Easy BCD to remove the GRUB. It went very well. Then, I removed my Ubuntu partition and merged it
with the existing Disk C. Afterwards, I installed Ubuntu without creating a new partition, instead I opted for "install Ubuntu alongside Windows 10" and I was able to allocate the partition for Ubuntu. Again, it went well. However, I noticed that my disk D
went missing when I tried to defrag my disk today. It only shows disk C. Yet, my disk D does still exist as I can use it to access my personal files. What should I do to retrieve my disk D back on the disk defragment menu? Any help or suggestion is appreciated.
    Thanks beforehand.

    Defragment and Optimize Drives Problem

    Hi Edward,

Based on the details you have provided, your C drive was unrecognized by the system. We suggest that you run these
commands and see if there are any changes:

    • Open
      Command Prompt
      as
      Administrator.

    • Run
      the following commands:

      • To fix any logical file errors:

        • Chkdsk C: /f /r

      • To defrag your Drive C manually:

        • Defrag C: /D /U

Update us on how it goes.

    Regards.

  4. Disk Defrag Utility is not showing C: Drive!

    disk defragmenting

Sign in to your Windows 10 computer with an administrator account. It is important to use an administrator account because standard account holders cannot defrag the hard disk drive.

    Click the Start button.

From the left pane of the Start menu, click File Explorer.

On the opened window, from the navigation pane in the left, expand the This PC tree.

From the expanded list, right-click Local Disk (C: ) or any other partition on which Windows 10 is installed.

From the context menu, click Properties.

On the opened Local Disk (C: ) Properties box, go to the Tools tab.

From the displayed interface, under the Optimize and defragment drive section, click the Optimize button.

On the Optimize Drives box, from the displayed list, ensure that the system drive (C: in this example) is selected.

Click the Analyze button from below the list.

Wait until Windows completes the analysis and displays the percentage of the fragmented files in the selected drive.

Note: If there are no fragmented files in the drive, Windows displays a message box stating that the disk does not need to be defragmented.

After Windows completes the analysis, click the Optimize button to start the defragmentation process on the selected volume.

Wait until Windows defragments the drive successfully, restart the PC, and start using Windows 10 normally.
