Line 6 UX II crackles / pops in the sound - How can it be fixed?

Hello guitarists and friends of home recording,

Does anyone here have any experience with the Line 6 UX II interface and associated Pod Farm software? For some time now, I've been getting random crackles and pops in between (which is recorded in Reaper when I record) when I play guitar through the standalone ampsim. What can I do / try with the software, the device and my PC (Dell laptop with Windows 10, 64 bit version)? I have read similar and unsolved cases a few times on the Line 6 forums. Is it simply a manufacturer problem and you should use better alternatives? If so, what equipment and software can be recommended for home recording and easy playing with the standalone ampsim instead? First of all: Various cables or USB ports have been tried on the PC and no, the interface is NOT connected to a hub as recommended.

    I hope someone can help.

    :)

    TROUBLESHOOT SOUND

    Method 1: From Sound Icon

Right-click on the Speaker/Headphone icon in the taskbar of your PC. Select Troubleshoot sound problems. The troubleshooting process will begin.

    Method 2: From Settings

If for some reason, the ‘Troubleshoot sound problems’ option isn’t available in the taskbar, you can start it from settings too. For that, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Windows settings from Start Menu or press Windows + I shortcut.

Step 2: Click on Update & Security followed by Troubleshoot in the left panel.

Step 3: Under Troubleshoot, click on Playing Audio in the right panel. Then hit the Run the troubleshooter button.

    Method 3: From Search

Click on the search icon in your taskbar and type troubleshoot. Click on the Troubleshoot settings option. That will directly take you to the troubleshooting window. Click on Playing Audio and hit the Run the troubleshooter button.

    CHECK DEFAULT SPEAKER

If you have multiple speakers, you need to set the one that you are using as the default one. Sometimes, after updating Windows, this setting changes, resulting in no sound. To fix it, follow these steps:

Step 1: Search for Control Panel using the search option in the taskbar.

Step 2: In Control Panel, click on Sound.

Step 3: Under the Playback tab, make sure your speakers are set as default. A green tick on them indicates that they are the default. If they aren’t, click on it once and select Set Default at the bottom.

  3. Sound crackling and popping, tried all the fixes.

same problems here, tried all the fixes available on the net, and also clean install different ver. of win 10, still the same

really frustrated, and the crackling, popping noise not only come from the on-board sound chip, but also my USB headphones and Steam Streaming, so it's not only the problem of realtek driver

    Still searching for fix....

  4. Line 6 UX II crackles / pops in the sound - How can it be fixed?

Sound crackling and popping, tried all the fixes.

Okay, turns out the new external sound card didn't fix the issue. There is slightly less popping, but it still crackles often when a sound suddenly starts, even in a new release like Destiny 2.

I have checked the Program Events and do not see how this is related to the issue. I need more information on what this is supposed to accomplish, as the problem is most noticeable when sound effects from actual games and video play, not the standard Windows
    sound effects.
