  1. Windows Installation Media Created A Windows 10 Pro on the USB, and I bought a license for...

I installed Windows 10 from an installation media I created with the installation media tool from Microsoft's website.

During installation I typed in the product key which I got when I bought the Windows 10 Home license from Microsoft's website, as it was provided to me in an email. The product key was accepted at the time of installation.

After installation and updates finished, I began getting messages that I need to activate my Windows 10. I went to Settings/Activation and saw:
    Edition Windows 10 Pro

Activation Windows is activated using your organization's activation service

When trying to update my product key by clicking "Change product key", entering my product key from the email, I get the follwing:
"The product key you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one. 0xc004f050"

I guess it's natural to get an error message, since the product key I have is for Home edition and I have installed Pro.

My question is, at what point of the installation or the installation media creation, am I supposed to choose that I want Windows 10 Home? I was never offered such an option during creating the installation on my USB drive, or during installation itself.

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 USB boot

Hi there, am not a windows 10 expert. I have a pc in the bedroom on windows 10, I messed up the bootloader trying to fix the xp on that system.

System wont boot, trying to repair via win 10 usb installer.

Downloaded the media creation tool to install windows 10 installer on usb stick. Not compatible with a host of usb sticks I have. Tried the usb sticks that others use, but I think they use rufus; as the media creation tool by win 10 does not detect the usb stick.

So quick question, the win10 machine i am trying to repair the bootloader is a win7 upgraded to win10.
If i were to use the usb win10 installer to "repair installation" does the version of the iso downloaded via the media creation tool matter?

    There is three options:
    Windows 10
    Windows 10 Home
    Windows 10 N

Also is there a step by step instead of using rufus as I want to try an alternative method of creating a usb win 10 installer. Preferably with more compatibility.

    System is a asus sabertooth 990 (r2?) with AMD phenom X 6.

Also is there any other software I can load onto the usb that can repair the bootloader easily?
That would be the ideal alternative. Thanks

  3. Clean Windows 10 (?PRO?) install

I have bought a legit "Windows 10 Pro" key of a key website. It is legit since i'm currently using it for over a year now. I currently have Windows 10 Pro installed on my PC and I want to do a clean install. I just can't find the windows 10 Pro download in the tool. But if i could use a windows 10 pro key with a normal windows 10 install, I'll be good to go.

    Clean Windows 10 (?PRO?) install

Where exactly did you get this "windows pro" key from? If it's off eBay or something, then perhaps you've been sold a dud key. Also, it's not clear if you mean you bought windows 10 pro or an earlier version of windows as there's no such thing as "windows pro".

Do you have an Windows 7 or 8.1? If so, install that, download the ISO with the media creation tool and burn it to disc. Then run it as an upgrade. After that, the components hash of your PC will give you a digital entitlement for a clean install, so just bought off that disc, wipe the partitions and install it clean. It will auto activate over the internet once installed.
